This focused 22-year old who was born in the Cinderella County, Essequibo, in a little village called Lima, had her Primary education at Comenius Primary and wrote the CXC examinations at St. Rose's High. She is currently pursuing a degree in Medical Technology at the University of Guyana and then hopes to go on to study medicine. Ulex hopes to contribute to saving lives worldwide.

Ulex's strict early upbringing of sound morals with lots of love and attention from her parents and grandparents has imbued in her a great strength of character, and a sense of respect for others.

In 2001, Ulex won the inaugural Miss Guyana Talented Teen Pageant and has pursued a modeling career since. She graced Guyana's modeling stages wearing the designs of Derek Moore, Michele Cole, Olympia Small-Sunaram, Roger Gary, Sammy Boucher and countless other gifted artists. In 2001 she gained the 2nd runner-up position in the Miss Guyana World Pageant. In 2002 she achieved the 1st runner-up spot in the Miss Guyana Universe and has represented Guyana at the 2002 Miss Carnival, and Miss Mash Queen International. In 2003 she supported Miss Guyana Universe 2002, Liana Damond, at the Miss Universe Pageant, 2002, in Panama City. In 2004, she participated in Miss Caraibes Hibiscus competition where she attained the 2nd runner-up position to represent Guyana at the Miss Caribbean in 2005. Ulex realizes that beauty ambassadorship can reach many people and is a great way to showcase Guyana.

At present Ulex is a Facilitator of Reading and uses it to further Guyana's literacy drive. She also serves as Secretary of the Medical Technology Association. She is attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation as a phlebotomist in the Accident and Emergency Unit. She is a member of the Youth Arm of the Young Women's Christian Association, and has supported the Mahaica Children's Home as her favourite charity.

During Guyana's flood disaster she was out in the field helping to dispense much needed medical supplies in the East Coast areas, and other areas that were most affected.

Ulex enjoys cooking Guyanese dishes, reading novels and modeling. Of all her talents, singing is where her heart is, as it allows her to express her true views of life in ballads and calypso compositions. She also enjoys helping her father with some of his calypso pieces for Guyana's yearly Calypso Competitions.
