I am a vivacious Gemini who entered this world on the 19th of June in 1979.  My childhood was filled with love and laughter, it was fabulous and I would never trade it for any other.  I have two brothers.

I grew up on a farm in the Pomeroon with cows, chickens, and all the dressings you can think about.  Some of my fondest memories are of my brothers and I romping in the grass with the neighbours’ children, fishing, learning to ride a bicycle, to swim.  Once I climbed up a mango tree and could not get down, I just didn’t know how! My mother threatened to leave me right there. I was so horrified.  I did come down, scraped from chin to toes!  I love to read and discovered novels while I was in Standard 4 and I soon became hooked.

I was never a bold child and I used to shy away from people and their compliments.  Now that I’m no longer shy, I love people.  When I am walking down the road and people stop and stare and sometimes say WOW!  I feel a deep sense of pride at that.

I attended Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School in the Charity/Pomeroon area of Essequibo.  While in High School I took part in some pranks and I also played Circle Tennis.

My teachers always came to me for an explanation of what happened.  Sometimes I really did not know.  I swore to my classmates that I would never become a teacher.  That was instead the exact opposite of what I did.  Three months after graduating from High School I became a Teacher.  It was while teaching that my love for children blossomed. Teaching also taught me something else - patience.

However, teaching was not to be because of my drive to learn more and to make something of myself.  I resigned and decided to pursue a Diploma course in Commerce at the Government Technical Institute in Georgetown.  After graduation I went back home to the Pomeroon but because of the lack of employment opportunities, I once again returned to the capital city.

Soon after returning to Georgetown I secured a position at North American Fire and General Insurance Co. Ltd. (NAFICO) where I continue to be of service to our policy holders.

Next year I will enter the University of Guyana to further my studies.
