I was born in Mahaicony
in a village called Novar but grew up in Huntley.
My mother is of Indian and Portugese descent while my father’s descendants came from
Italy, Africa, China, Indian and the list goes on.
I was and still am my father’s baby but I also have
a brother Mario. I went to Novar Nursery School and then went on to the Novar Primary School where my mother was a teacher.
My favourite games while
in school were hopscotch, Chinese Skipping, Jacks and ball. I climbed ginip trees
when they were in season and enjoyed visiting my father on his cocomut estate where the excitement
was going to see the labarias coiled in the
coconut husks. I also took pleasure in troubling marabuntas
so I received my fair share of stings, one which left my eyes swollen
for over one week.
I was always an excellent student but playful. I began taking part in our inter school quiz
competitions and at the SSEE I was in the top six who received over 500
marks. My parents did not want
to send me to Georgetown so I enrolled at the Mahaicony Secondary School. Whilst there
I scored first in the handwriting competition from forms 1 – 3 I was second
academically throughout my secondary school years.
After completing high school I immediately enrolled
at the University of Guyana where I completed my Diploma in Computer Science
