Facts and Roses glimpses

WHAT do you get when you mix basketball, two sparkling designers and sexy models?

Well, along with ogling eyes and a screaming crowd — you get a perfect blend of Caribbean colours, Middle Eastern exotic culture, costume designs, and a traditional flare.

The half time show of the Bounty Colts Facts and Roses basketball first division final at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown Saturday night was, oh so tantalizing!

Fans there for the basketball got an appetizer of what is expected for a superbly delightful meal once fully launched.

Designers Michelle Cole and Trevor Rose, who have teamed up to form Facts and Roses, will officially launch their first work together in late August.

They, however, exposed glimpses of their swim line and sport wear to the big crowd at the Saturday night final.

After the first game, the girls [very sexy] emerged in their sport wear – well, according to one man, outfits that exposed most of their contours.

This was a strong wind, compared to the tornado which hit the Sports Hall later on when they then traversed the court in swim wear. And the genius of design was exposed!

The girls were outfitted in both one piece and two pieces suits, and all were exotically designed.

There were also capes, masks and belly dancer veils which complemented the swim suits.

Along with Riea Austin who has made her name in the modelling industry, the crowd went wild when former Ms. Guyana World Jasmine Herzog emerged in a white cape complete with a hood, which covered a lovely white two piece swim suit.

Cole told the Guyana Chronicle that the pieces were not necessary for swimming, but more for competitions. She did not, however, rule out the idea of the pieces being used as lingerie.

"We wanted to show the exotic side of swim wear; they are not necessary for swimming, more so more practical for competitions," Cole said, adding "it can be used anywhere."

She said the line of clothing Facts and Roses will be launching will span from exotic to casual and totally formal. "It's for persons [including males] who always want to look good."

"This is a combination of thoughts and ideas by myself and Trevor, based on our encounters and experience" Cole explained when she was asked the concept behind the line of wear.

"We have something special we are working on for the launch, where we are tying in the 2007 Cricket World Cup."

Cole said she and Trevor have big plans for the future in their designs, including the 2007 Mash float parade and a more colourful basketball competition next year.

She did admit that with their creative genius Facts and Roses will take the fashion world to another level.

"It is like getting two for the price of one," Cole said.
