Le Meridien poolside venue for Ms. Guyana World

The Ms. Guyana World Committee is planning an extravaganza for its 2005 pageant, with the 10 beauties vying for the crown.

The pageant is billed for September 17th and will be staged for the very first time at the Le Meridien Pegasus Poolside. Coordinator Christopher Goodridge is very confident that it will be crowd pleasing.

"A stage will be build over the swimming pool. We are looking at creating a more exciting and entertaining venue for the pageant, we feel that this is fresh and will be a crowd pleaser" Goodridge said.

Those present at the big night will also get a chance to listen to singer Slingshot performing live, before partaking in a dinner and dance after the queen is crowned.

Arrangements are being made for the top three in the contest to make appearances at selected International Pageants during the remainder of this year and most of 2006.

Prior to the Pageant, which will see only five girls competing, the delegates will take part in an evening gown segment and an intelligence segment. The bulk of their votes (80 %) however will be decided by Guyana, since the organisers have planned a telethon one week before the competition called "Guyana you decide"; which will be aired on NCN television.

Yesterday eight of the 10 contestants paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Tourism Trade and Commerce Manzoor Nadir and Mayor of Georgetown Hamilton Green.
