18-year-old
crowned Miss Guyana World After stiff competition, 18-year-old Jasmine
Herzog, delegate Number Seven of the Miss Guyana World 2005 pageant,
was crowned the new Miss Guyana World on Saturday evening last at
the grand finale at the Le Meridien Pegasus.
Delegate
Number One, Ulex Atwell, was the first runner-up; Delegate Number
Six, Mikieda Franklin, was the second runner-up; Delegate Number
Three, Dacia Blackmore, was the third runner-up; and delegate Number
Eight, Meleesa Payne, the fourth runner-up.
Mikieda
Franklin was voted Miss Internet and Miss Congeniality; Ulex Atwell,
Miss Photogenic, Miss Sasha Face and Miss Body Beautiful; Ginesta
David, Best Smile; and Jasmine Herzog, Best Hair.
Despite the delayed start the evening's competition began with the
nine delegates - Ulex Atwell , Dacia Blackmore, Mikieda Franklin,
Jasmine Herzog, Melessa Payne, Carlotta Primo, Reene Chester, Latoya
Bailey and Genista David strutting their stuff in two-piece swim
suites.
That
opening sequence was followed by John "Slingshot" Drepaul,
who preformed two of his most popular tunes, "Lazy" and
"Golden locket".
He
then made way for the delegates who once again graced the stage,
this time showcasing their evening gowns. Then the final five contestants,
Ulex Atwell , Dacia Blackmore, Mikieda Franklin, Jasmine Herzog
and Melessa Payne emerged after this sequence.
They
were to answer what was described as the final questions. Herzog's
response to her question earned her enough points to walk away with
the crown. She was crowned and sashed by Miss Guyana World 2004,
Suzette Shim.
