Miss Guyana World Suzette Shim & Marketing/Finance Director of Miss
Guyana World Asmita Chand today accompanied a small delegation comprising
Minister of Tourism Manzoor Nadir and other officials of the Ministry
of Tourism to the North Rupununi village of Annai to observe the start
of the 4th Annual Junior Wildlife Festival.
Ms.
Shim joined in the parade which included children from 14 communities
in the North Rupununi. After the parade Minister Nadir opened the
festival at an official ceremony. Ms Shim then toured the Rock View
Resort before making a surprise stop at the Kaieteur National Park.
The trip ended with an aerial tour of the Essequibo coast/river
and Georgetown.
Ms.
Shim described the trip as a fun-filled, educational tour which
will help her in her preparations for the Miss World Contest in
December.
She
and members of the Miss Guyana World Committee paid a courtesy call
on the Minister on August 6 who pledged assistance for the Queen
including the printing of a promotional brochure and provision of
tokens and other promotional material for Ms. Shim to take to China.
The Ministry will also be involved in tutoring Miss Shim on tourism
issues in preparation for the Miss World Contest.
Other
Activities
Ms.
Shim is currently stepping up preparations for the Miss World Contest.
She is currently being trained for her talent piece by Mr. Royston
Glasgow of the Let's Dance Studio. She is also receiving physical
training at the Studio 2000 Gym and beauty treatments at the Tip
Top Hairdressing Salon. Ms. Shim is also working with the Miss World
Committee and past queens Olive Gopaul and Alexis Glasgow
On
Friday August 20th Miss Shim will visit with President Bharat Jagdeo.
She will also begin to volunteer time with local charities shortly.
