Carolan does well in Russia pageant
POPULAR local model Carolan
Lynch has returned home after taking part in the Mrs. World 2006
pageant held in St Petersburg, Russia, against 34 other married
women from around the world.
Carolan said other countries participating included Peru, the United
States, Bolivia, Bulgaria, China, Costa Rica, Russia, Venezuela,
Yugoslavia, Estonia, Kenya, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines,
Great Britain, Paraguay and India.
Contestants were judged on intelligence (50% of the total score),
swimwear (25%) and evening gown (25%). The national costume segment
was judged by itself. Carolan said she placed in the top ten overall
and her national costume was judged one of the ten best.
Her costume, which she and Deryck Moore designed, was a sari which
also depicted the Guyana Flag. The Mrs World pageant, which is for
married women only, is the third largest contest of its kind after
the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants.
Carolan's modelling career spans more than a decade and this she
attributed to her success in Russia.
She was won the Miss Diwali and Miss Bartica Regatta pageants here.
She said she is scheduled to represent Guyana at yet another beauty
pageant called "Mrs. Globe" billed for July this year in California,
in the U.S.
Carolan thanks her husband, family and friends for firmly supporting
her.
