Aliann Pompey, Medal Winner at the
Commonwealth Games
Aliann Pompey has won a thrilling 400m final at the Commonwealth Games. The Guyana athlete clocked a time of 51.63, fending off Scottish newcomer to the distance Lee McConnell, who finished in 51.68



Aliann Pompey won a gold medal - the first by a Guyanese in almost 70 years - in the 400m. She is the 2000 NCAA Indoor 400m champion and has several records for her alma-mater, Manhattan College. Pompey is the national record holder at 400m - 51.34s (CWG), and competed in the 1999 Pan-American Games, 2000 Olympics and 2001 World Championships. She is now pursuing a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA).

Eastman marches on Eastman is eyeing another world title shot Howard Eastman kept his world title aspirations on track with a clinical three-round demolition of Scott Dann in Nottingham. Eastman retained his British, Commonwealth and European
middleweight titles with a big right uppercut, prompting

But he was not good enough for Eastman Battersea's Eastman decked Dann early in the third before wading in again to force a stoppage and secure the win.
